LIRA & CURRENCY MARKET

How to read the EL DÖVİZ rates table

What buy and sell mean, how toman differs from rial, where the rate time comes from and why a transfer quote differs from the reference rate: a short guide to the rates table.

The table on the home page and on the rates page refreshes every few minutes and shows four currencies: the lira, the dollar, the euro and USDT. This short guide explains what each column means and how to use it for an estimate.

Buy and sell from whose point of view?

The “Buy” column is the rate at which the reference source buys foreign currency from the customer; the “Sell” column is the rate at which it sells to the customer. That is why the sell figure is always slightly above the buy figure. If you want to buy lira, look at the sell column; if you want to sell lira, the buy column is the basis of your estimate.

Toman or rial?

The default unit is toman, because the reference source publishes in toman. The “Rial IRR” button multiplies every number by 10. Your choice is saved in your browser; the lira box at the top of the page always stays in toman.

Where does the rate time come from?

Under the table you see two times: “Source publication time”, which is when the source published the rate, and “Retrieved from source”, which is when our server fetched it. Both are shown in Istanbul time. The server asks the source at most once every five minutes, so the table is not a live tick feed; if the data is older than allowed, a “refresh needed” label appears next to the rate.

Why is USDT sometimes “unavailable”?

When the source has no valid data for USDT, the table shows “Unavailable” instead of an approximate or substitute number. We never guess a figure. To exchange USDT in Istanbul, request the rate directly.

From the table to a quote

The calculator at the top of the home page estimates with the same rates: enter the amount you pay, choose the payment and receiving currencies and press “calculate”. That figure is an estimate without fees. For a firm rate, fill in the quote form; the request text is prepared for you to copy or send via WhatsApp. The final rate and fee are confirmed with you before any request is executed.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the rates on the site come from?

From a reference source for Iran's open market (Bonbast), fetched periodically rather than tick by tick. The source's publication time and our server's retrieval time are both shown under the table.

Why is the rate quoted for my transfer different from the table?

The table is the market reference rate, not EL DÖVİZ's final rate. The final rate of every request depends on the currency, amount and route and is confirmed with you before execution; the fee is stated separately.

Should I switch to rial?

The table's default unit is toman. The “Rial” button multiplies every number by 10; the rate itself does not change.
